Name of creator
Bowden Clipping Service, part of MH Media Monitoring Limited based in Kitchener, Ontario, is a Canadian company that was used by Concordia University Libraries to find articles in French and English Canadian newspapers and magazines relating to the poet Irving Layton. The company would send the clippings via first class mail on a weekly basis. The Libraries ceased using the company’s services in May of 1993.
Clippings were collected by a Bowden’s clipping service employed by Concordia University Libraries.
Scope and content
Collection contains newspaper clippings relating to Irving Layton. These clippings review his work, comment on events held to honour Layton and his work, include interviews with the poet, document reviews by fans, and include articles about Irving Layton and Canadian poets in general. Clippings were taken from several large Canadian newspapers from Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver and include newspapers and magazines such as the Gazette, the Toronto Star, the Georgian, Poetry Canadian Review, Saturday Night, The Canadian Forum, Sunday Star and the Telegram.
Many of the clippings are torn, crumpled, and folded. The majority are discolored and fading, making them hard to read.
