The website describes 288 costumes from the CNC collection, created between 1956 and 1996 by designers that dominated the Quebec theatre landscape. The costumes were made for productions in various theatres in Montreal.
The 288 costumes are organized into 17 historical periods. For each costume there is a detailed description – in French and English - of the work with one to four photos, for a total of 1233 photos. When available other pieces of information are mentioned, such as the costume designer (and artisans and fabricators), the play, theatre, actor, role, and date. Most of the costumes on the website were designed by François Barbeau, but there are also works by the following designers: Maryse Bienvenu, Véronique Borboën, Jean-Yves Cadieux, Meredith Caron, Hortense Guillemard, Louise Jobin, François Laplante, Liliane Laîné, and Mark Negin.
