The fonds documents life and events in Canada, Europe, and Asia, through the eyes of journalist Gerald Clark, from World War II to 2018, with special attention paid on past-war Germany, Eastern European socialist countries, communist China, and Israel, which is documented from the 1960s to the 1990s, through articles written by Clark, reference documentation, and interviews taken by Clark with various Israeli people in significant positions.

The fonds includes without limitations research materials, notes, drafts, scripts, newspaper and magazine articles, scrapbooks, interviews, photographs, correspondence, posters, business cards, press passes, publications (periodicals and monographs), sound recordings, moving images, reviews, stamps, addresses, and other materials.

The Eveline Mason Letters Collection documents Eveline’s life before, during, and after the Second World War as she moved between Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The letters describe her experience of moving alone from Montreal to Scotland at a young age, and her plans of pursuing a university degree at Glasgow University, where she met Alexander Cairncross, the recipient of the letters. The contents of the letters also tell of Eveline’s passage back to Canada at the start of the war, her struggles obtaining employment, finding her place in the workforce as a stenographer, her experience and thoughts of living and working in the United States during the war, and finally her return to the United Kingdom.

The collection includes 102 handwritten and typed letters.

The ESSE arts + opinions collection provides information about ESSE arts + opinions magazine from 1987 to 2023. The collection consists of administrative records, photographs and promotional material that document the functions and activities of the magazine during its early stages of publication between 1987 to 1998. The collection also includes documentation about the artists and contributors that were involved in the editorial work of the magazine.

The collection contains essays, drafts, articles, correspondence, financial records, minutes and agendas, handwritten notes, manuscripts, photographs, and newspaper clippings about ESSE arts + opinions. It also includes information related to contributors, press releases, promotional material such as flyers, and postcards and leaflets. The collection contains 19 issues of the magazine published between 1987 and 2011.

The Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre fonds contains records relating to the operation of the Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre. It contains textual records and other materials documenting the mission; structure; administration; building and facilities; and programs and services offered at the Centre, dating from its founding in the late 1920s until it ceased its operations. The fonds also contains materials dating to after the closure of the Centre.

The fonds documents the history of the Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre, its role in Little Burgundy and the greater Montreal area, and its relationships to other organizations, including but not limited to the Coloured Women's Club of Montreal; Union United Church; Red Feather Services; Federated Appeal of Greater Montreal; and Centraide. The fonds also includes documentation related to the Walker Credit Union and Afro-Can. The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters is also mentioned in the documentation.

The Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre fonds includes a wide variety of textual records, including but not limited to administrative records; ledgers and other financial records; correspondence; board and committee meeting minutes and related records; reports; calendars, flyers, posters, descriptions and other documentation relating to programs, services, and events taking place at the Centre; photographic materials, including prints and negatives; architectural drawings and plans; clothing; and ephemera.
