The VIE PROFESSIONNELLE series is comprised of 6 sub-series: the CONFÉRENCES, COLLOQUES ET EXPOSITIONS sub-series is comprised of records related to the many presentations and lectures Gagnon gave during his career in France, Israel and in the United States but mostly in Canada, on subjects as varied as modern American art, impressionist paintings, Mayan and archaic American art, visual perception, archeology, anthropology and philosophy but mostly Paul-Émile Borduas and the Refus global artists, the automatists, ancient art in Quebec and the representation of first nations in Canadian art.

The ENSEIGNEMENT sub-series includes course outlines and teaching material related to Gagnon’s teaching positions at Université de Montréal (1967-2000), McGill University (1999) and Concordia University (2000-2019). The ÉCRITS sub-series contains records related to the books Gagnon wrote or took part in as well as articles he wrote for Larousse, Muse, RACAR, Recherches amérindiennes du Québec, Espace and Études françaises to name a few. The DISTINCTIONS sub-series contains records related to the many prizes and awards Gagnon received: an honorary degree from Concordia University, the Prix d’excellence en enseignement and Professeur émérite of Université de Montréal, Prix Gérard-Morisset, Prix d’histoire du Gouverneur general and Officier de l’Ordre national du Québec among others. The Black Studies Centre fonds contains materials documenting the administration, services, and activities of the Black Studies Centre from its beginnings as the National Black Coalition Quebec Institute of Research until 2014. The fonds also documents the Centre’s role within Montreal’s Black communities, as well as its relationships to other organizations working within and outside Montreal. In addition, the Black Studies Centre fonds is an important source of reference documentation pertaining to the history, culture, and contributions of Black communities in Canada: it contains a rich collection of newspapers, periodicals, and books, dating from 1969 to 2012, including but not limited to copies of Contrast (1969-1999), Community Contact (1998-2008), Afro-Can (1981-1984), Focus Umoja (1974-1978), Uhuru (1969-1970), and Umoja (1969-1970, 1990), as well as books that were previously held in the collection of the Black Studies Centre’s Library.

The fonds documents the Public Relations and Information Office’s efforts to establish effective communication services for Loyola College in the 1960s until the merger with Sir George Williams University in 1974. It mainly consists of documentation on academic, social and cultural events (e.g. convocations, conferences, theatre presentations) and on various administrative and academic matters (e.g. quest for a University charter, capital campaign, curriculum). The records of the Event Coordination Centre (series I002.1/19) provide information on the use of the college facilities for the organization of events, such as those held at the F.C. Smith Auditorium.

The Magnus Isacsson fonds documents the life and work of Magnus Isacsson from 1971 to 2017. It contains materials covering his early career as a TV producer, his experience as a freelance journalist and educator, and the many years he spent working as an independent filmmaker. The fonds provides insight into Isacsson’s projects, including completed, unfinished, and unreleased works. The fond also includes documentation on the release, screening, and critical reception of his films.

The Magnus Isacsson fonds contains records in a variety of media and formats that detail the administrative and creative processes behind his work in radio, television and film. Among other types of documents, the fonds contains Isacsson’s research and notes; shooting tapes, raw footage, and master tapes in several formats; sound recordings; photographs; promotional material; contracts; correspondence; project proposals; articles and newspaper clippings; financial records; and teaching material.

The fonds mainly provides information on Sister Prudence Allen’s research, teaching activities, and her religious life. Some materials are related, among others, to religious figures such as Hildergard of Bingen and Edith Stein, as well as philosophical perspectives on woman. The fonds also gives genealogical information on the Allen family and the Oneida Community

The fonds includes lectures, speeches, and articles; correspondence, daily journals, and photographs. The fonds also includes three dolls made by Sr. Prudence Allen’s grandmother, Christine Hamilton Allen (1875-1952), a social worker who worked closely with Eleonar Roosevelt during the Suffrage Movement. There are other artifacts such as a Tree of Life embroidered for Sr. Prudence Allen by Gretta Nemiroff.

The fonds consists of ten series, many of them subdivided into sub-series. The documents cover the period 1972 to 1982, however, the great majority of the documents were created between 1973 and 1976.

This finding aid deals with the administrative, financial files of this organization as well as the artist and exhibition files, the publicity material (posters, art catalogues), and photographs.

There is little documentation for the activities of the Véhicule Art Inc. gallery from 1976 to 1982. During this time the gallery experienced both administrative and financial difficulties. Frequent changes of staff and insufficient funding contributed to the weakening of the gallery and its activities.

The original order of the documents quite faithfully reflected the internal organization of the gallery. Thus, the documents dating from 1972 to 1975, were relatively well organized and required no further arrangement; on the other hand, those covering the 1976-1982 period needed complete reorganization.

The fonds documents the activities of the Office of the Vice-Rector at Concordia for the period of 1974 to 1984 and some file document the activities of the Office of the Vice-Principal, Administration and Finance at Sir George Williams University. The latter files include some documents relating to the SGWU Computer Centre incident of 1969. The fonds also includes some files of André-Jean Laprade, Assistant Vice-Rector Relations and Audit.Those files mainly relate to "Groupe de recherche et d’élaboration d’un système d’informatique de gestion universitaire (GRESIGU)," 1968-1975 (A. J. Laprade being the responsible for the « SIGU-Recherche » group). There are also some Stirling Dorrance’s files who was first at Loyola College and then at Concordia, Assistant to the Rector, Development (these files were probably mixed up in storage space at some points - by error - with the files from the Vice-Rector, Administration and Finance).

The fonds provides information on Montreal's Black jazz scene from the 1920s to the 1960s, chronicling the lives of three women - Tina Baines Brereton, Bernice Jordan Whims, and Olga Spencer Foderingham - who danced in night clubs such as Rockhead's Paradise, The Terminal, and Café St. Michel.

The fonds consists of materials gathered, and in some cases created, during the National Film Board of Canada's production of Show Girls / Les Girls. It includes research notes, edited sequences on videotape, video tapes and transcripts of interviews with the film's principals, audio tapes of interviews with various sources, stock footage, shot lists, clippings of night clubs ads, historical reference books, and VHS copies of the documentary.
