The collection consists of materials accumulated by Gertrude and Carl Katz related to Gertrude's friendship and working relationship with Irving Layton. The documents concern the life and work of Irving Layton.

Franklyn Harvey collection

The Franklyn Harvey collection contains books, periodicals, and other documents that composed the library of Franklyn Harvey. This material is indicative of Harvey's interest and involvement in the Caribbean left and serves as a catalogue documenting, among other topics, the Caribbean left; activism in the Caribbean; politics, economic growth, change, and renewal in the Caribbean; political economy; communism; socialism; nationalism; power; and poverty.

The Franklyn Harvey collection contains 275 textual documents, mostly in English, 4 optical discs, and 1 map.

Dorothy Harper collection

The Dorothy Harper collection contains materials documenting the the life of Dorothy Harper, specifically her interest in jazz music.

The collection contains two sound recordings and 54 photographs. A number of the photographs showcase jazz clubs in Montreal, including the Café Esquire and El Morocco. Other images show Oscar Peterson in concert, while many depict scenes from Dorothy Harper's life in Montreal in the mid-1940s.

Corridart collection

The collection consists of materials assembled by the plaintiffs' lawyers and deposited with the Quebec Superior Court in connection with the Corridart case. The collection documents the conception and execution of Corridart, as well as its abrupt dismantling and the legal proceedings that followed. There are materials related to the careers of the artists who participated in the court case, and information about related legal precedents.

The collection includes an inventory by Melvin Charney of the sites along Sherbrooke Street, explaining the conception of Corridart as a rue-musée qu'on visite à pied. There is also a comprehensive set of photographs of Corridart, documenting the common elements (the continuous assemblage), as well as the works exhibited along Sherbrooke Street, the panels of text, and the sites of activities. These photographs trace the entire Corridart route from east to west. There are photographs documenting the dismantling. Others show impounded works and several illustrate damage to works. The collection includes project proposals, planning documents, contracts between artists and COJO, correspondence, articles from legal journals, reports of meetings, blueprints, and sketches. There are also artists' curricula vitae, photographs, brochures, and other documents related to the artists' careers that were assembled to establish their status as professional artists.

Corridart dans la rue Sherbrooke

Collection consists of 1278 audio recordings of musical performances by Concordia students, faculty and guests. They were recorded at the Loyola Chapel and at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall between 1986 and 2005. Most are in audio cassette format with the latest ones on compact disc.

Collection provides information on jazz music in Montreal from the 1930s through the 1960s. The collection complements other fonds and collections housed in the Concordia University Archives and Concordia University Library, Special Collections.

The collection includes swizzle sticks and other memorabilia from Montreal jazz night clubs such as Rockhead's Paradise, the Rainbow Bar Café, and Dinty Moore's. It also contains sound recordings, photographs of Rockhead's Paradise and owner Rufus Rockhead, sheet music, videotape copies of televisions shows on jazz musicians Oliver Jones, Paul Bley, and Oscar Peterson, and a copy of the book Montreal Confidential by Al Palmer.

Antique maps collection

The antique maps collection contains mostly early maps of America, Europe and Asia. Many of these maps are hand coloured. Some of the later maps show cities, including London and Paris.

The collection documents the life, work, and interests of Alfie Roberts and Patricia Cambridge. It includes documentation about their post-secondary studies, their work experience in different companies and organizations, their contribution to the black community and their affiliation with various community organizations such as the St. Vincent and Grenadines Association of Montreal, the Emancipation 150 Committee, the Black Community Council of Quebec and the Project Genesis. The collection provides information about several Black community organizations in Montreal, the rest of Canada and North America, including promotional material of events, which provide an overview of the cultural activities held between the 60s and 90s. In addition, the collection contains numerous publications such as periodicals, booklets and books that were part of Roberts and Cambridge’s personal library and the Alfie Roberts Institute. Some of the periodicals found in the collection include issues of The Vincentian, Afro-Can, Gramma, Uhuru, Caribbean Contact, The Afro Canadian, The Militant, The Struggle, Outlet, Focus Umoja, Justice, Freedom, The Crusader, Nam Speaks, Speak Out, Day Clean, Forum, and New Beginning, among others publications. The collection covers topics that are related but not limited to Black history, imperialism, slavery, racism, liberation, colonialism, Marxism, communism, socialism, housing and segregation, urban planning, labour, history of Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America.
