The Victoria Stanton and Vincent Tinguely collection contains materials concerning the theory, practice, and history of spoken word poetry. It also thoroughly documents the history of the spoken word scene in Montreal from the 1960s until 2001. Significantly, the collection documents the writing and publication of Victoria Stanton and Vincent Tinguely’s Impure: Reinventing the Word (conundrum press, 2001).

The Victoria Stanton and Vincent Tinguely contains interviews conducted by Stanton and Tinguely with 75 French and English poets, authors, artists, and performers, including Heather O'Neill, Jonathan Goldstein, Michel Garneau, John Giorno, Zoe Whittall, Jean-Paul Daoust, Simon Dardick, Catherine Kidd, Geneviève Letarte, Naila Keleta-Mae, Hélène Monette, Trish Salah, Anne Stone, Todd Swift, and Debbie Young, among many others. The collection also includes, 52 CDs, 12 mini-CDs, 4 LPs, 8 cassettes, and 5 VHS and beta of spoken word and poetry released between 1971 and 2014; newspaper clippings; notes and working papers; manuscript drafts and translations; galley proofs; correspondence; and research materials, among other documents. Materials concerning Montreal literary festivals, including Blue Metropolis and the Festival Voix d’Amériques, can be found throughout.

The antique maps collection contains mostly early maps of America, Europe and Asia. Many of these maps are hand coloured. Some of the later maps show cities, including London and Paris.

The fonds provides information on Martin Singer’s research and teaching between 1972 and 2009. It also documents his career as a university administrator at Concordia University.

The fonds consists of course materials, lectures, reports, and presentations. There is for instance material related to the extensive field trips to East Asia in 1975 and 1976 (which include more than 700 slides and a few sound recordings of lectures and interviews. The fonds also contains extensive research material related to the Martin Singer research projects on Canadian academic relations with China, sponsored respectively by IDRC (1982-1986) and AUCC (1994-1996). This material is composed of cassette tapes of interviews made with numerous Canadian and Chinese academics and government and NGO officials across Canada.

The fonds provides information on Ken Whittingham’s student life at Loyola College, his work as a journalist and his professional career in the field of public relations at Concordia University.

The EDUCATION subseries is comprised of student records including a Loyola College commemorative degree Whittingham received in 2005, some student papers produced during his studies, a file on the controversy about the Loyola of Montreal Students' Association (LMSA) Gamut Magazine and records related to his involvement with the Loyola News.

The JOURNALISM subseries includes records related to Whittingham's employment at the Montreal Star. It contains press clippings of articles he wrote between June 1970 and May 1979, including an activity summary in the form of an index produced by his father John Hurst Whittingham, a notebook and a file about the closing of the newspaper in 1979. The subseries also includes a sample of articles Whittingham wrote for various publications, including the Chronicle of Higher Education, the University of Waterloo Gazette, among others.

The PUBLIC RELATIONS subseries includes a file testifying of Whittingham's work as a Public Relations Officer at McGill University between 1980 and 1982 but mostly records related to his position as Interim Director and then Director of the Public relations Department of Concordia University. They include correspondence, press clippings, event brochures and transcriptions of radio interviews, materials related to the tragic events of August 24, 1992, the Concordia institutional marketing campaign of 1995 and Whittingham's work as an external consultant.

The CONFERENCE, SEMINARS, TALKS subseries is comprised of records related to presentations or workshops given by Whittingham to the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE), the Conférence des recteurs et principaux des universités du Québec (CREPUQ) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in between 1993 and 1994.

The DISTINCTIONS series includes a file on the Distinguished Service Award Whittingham received from the Concordia University Alumni Association (CUAA) in 1997.

The fonds relates to the management and activities of the Société du 5 avril of Montreal, from its inception in 1990 through the cessation of operations in 1997. The collection documents the life, work, and interests of Alfie Roberts and Patricia Cambridge. It includes documentation about their post-secondary studies, their work experience in different companies and organizations, their contribution to the black community and their affiliation with various community organizations such as the St. Vincent and Grenadines Association of Montreal, the Emancipation 150 Committee, the Black Community Council of Quebec and the Project Genesis. The collection provides information about several Black community organizations in Montreal, the rest of Canada and North America, including promotional material of events, which provide an overview of the cultural activities held between the 60s and 90s. In addition, the collection contains numerous publications such as periodicals, booklets and books that were part of Roberts and Cambridge’s personal library and the Alfie Roberts Institute. Some of the periodicals found in the collection include issues of The Vincentian, Afro-Can, Gramma, Uhuru, Caribbean Contact, The Afro Canadian, The Militant, The Struggle, Outlet, Focus Umoja, Justice, Freedom, The Crusader, Nam Speaks, Speak Out, Day Clean, Forum, and New Beginning, among others publications. The purpose of the Oral History-Montreal Studies program is to document the history of the Montreal metropolitan area. Sponsored by Shell Canada, the program funds projects which make accessible the oral history of Greater Montreal, through systematic interviewing of leaders and witnesses of the labour, industrial, cultural, social, religious, and ethnic scene since World War II. The project is administered by the Concordia University Library.

The collection contains newspaper clippings relating to Irving Layton. These clippings review his work, comment on events held to honour Layton and his work, include interviews with the poet, document reviews by fans, and include articles about Irving Layton and Canadian poets in general. Clippings were taken from several large Canadian newspapers from Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver and include newspapers and magazines such as the Gazette, the Toronto Star, the Georgian, Poetry Canadian Review, Saturday Night, The Canadian Forum, Sunday Star and the Telegram.

The African Newspaper Collection consists of Taifa Leo (1979-1988; 1992-1996), the Daily Nation and Sunday Nation (1979-1985), and The Standard (1982-1995). The newspapers that compose this collection were published in Kenya between 1979 and 1996.

The fonds provides detailed information on major issues, such as globalization, the effects of new technology on the workplace and the transition to a knowledge economy, and their impact on education at the post-secondary level in Canada. It contains materials documenting the pressures faced by post-secondary institutions in Canada due to increasing enrollment and decreasing funding from the federal government.

The fonds consists of reports, studies, research materials, questionnaires and survey results stemming from the work of the Task Forces and resulting in the C-HEF’s publications

The Upper Neighbours Suitewhich was commissioned by the Association, composed and arranged by Jimmy Heath, and performed by Jimmy Heath and Richard Parris at its world premiere on October 6, 1990, at the Concordia University Concert Hall.
