Fonds consists of a record of the research Taras Grescoe conducted during the process of writing his books Sacré Blues, The Devil's Picnic, and The End of Elsewhere. They document Quebec Society, global tourism, and the prohibited food and substance business.

The records include sound recordings and transcripts of interviews, research materials, drafts of book chapters and articles, travel note books, and correspondence.

The purpose of the Oral History-Montreal Studies program is to document the history of the Montreal metropolitan area. Sponsored by Shell Canada, the program funds projects which make accessible the oral history of Greater Montreal, through systematic interviewing of leaders and witnesses of the labour, industrial, cultural, social, religious, and ethnic scene since World War II. The project is administered by the Concordia University Library.

The Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre fonds contains records relating to the operation of the Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre. It contains textual records and other materials documenting the mission; structure; administration; building and facilities; and programs and services offered at the Centre, dating from its founding in the late 1920s until it ceased its operations. The fonds also contains materials dating to after the closure of the Centre.

The fonds documents the history of the Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre, its role in Little Burgundy and the greater Montreal area, and its relationships to other organizations, including but not limited to the Coloured Women's Club of Montreal; Union United Church; Red Feather Services; Federated Appeal of Greater Montreal; and Centraide. The fonds also includes documentation related to the Walker Credit Union and Afro-Can. The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters is also mentioned in the documentation.

The Negro Community Centre/Charles H. Este Cultural Centre fonds includes a wide variety of textual records, including but not limited to administrative records; ledgers and other financial records; correspondence; board and committee meeting minutes and related records; reports; calendars, flyers, posters, descriptions and other documentation relating to programs, services, and events taking place at the Centre; photographic materials, including prints and negatives; architectural drawings and plans; clothing; and ephemera.

The fonds documents the arts and crafts in Montreal and elsewhere between the late 1940s and the 1980s. The fonds covers the evolution of Lucien Desmarais' career from its beginnings at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts until his death in 1988, including his activities in theatre and his travels. The fonds also reveals his diverse interests in theatre, entertainment, and general culture. The fonds is based on the professional activities of Lucien Desmarais, tisserand concepteur (weaver-designer) and gives information on his creations for high fashion and interior decoration and the annual exhibitions in which he participated. The fonds also gives information on his involvement in numerous associations and cultural organizations as founder, director, and jury member. The fonds gives information on his teaching activities and the courses he gave at various colleges, as well as his speeches.

The fonds includes correspondence, textile samples, course notes, theatre programs, posters, invitations to openings and exhibits, photographs, clippings, drawings, albums, and a scrapbook of clippings of fashion photographs with swatches of the fabrics used in the garments shown. It includes a major collection of documents on the history of textiles and the artists and craftspersons who made them.

The Peter K. Johnston fonds contains documentation pertaining to the American Jazz musician Harry James (1916-1983) and the Big band era. The fonds primarily documents the musical career of Harry James as bandleader and trumpeter. It also includes information on the Montreal Vintage Music Society (MVMS), and on other jazz musicians, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Metcalf, Oscar Peterson, and Glenn Miller, among many others.

The fonds contains memorabilia, correspondence, magazines, discographies, photographs, newspaper clippings, reference documentation, posters, moving images, and an audio recording, among other material. Some of the documents are arranged in scrapbooks.

The collection documents the life, work, and interests of Alfie Roberts and Patricia Cambridge. It includes documentation about their post-secondary studies, their work experience in different companies and organizations, their contribution to the black community and their affiliation with various community organizations such as the St. Vincent and Grenadines Association of Montreal, the Emancipation 150 Committee, the Black Community Council of Quebec and the Project Genesis. The collection provides information about several Black community organizations in Montreal, the rest of Canada and North America, including promotional material of events, which provide an overview of the cultural activities held between the 60s and 90s. In addition, the collection contains numerous publications such as periodicals, booklets and books that were part of Roberts and Cambridge’s personal library and the Alfie Roberts Institute. Some of the periodicals found in the collection include issues of The Vincentian, Afro-Can, Gramma, Uhuru, Caribbean Contact, The Afro Canadian, The Militant, The Struggle, Outlet, Focus Umoja, Justice, Freedom, The Crusader, Nam Speaks, Speak Out, Day Clean, Forum, and New Beginning, among others publications. The collection covers topics that are related but not limited to Black history, imperialism, slavery, racism, liberation, colonialism, Marxism, communism, socialism, housing and segregation, urban planning, labour, history of Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America.

It includes scripts written and/or produced by Peter McDonald, and scripts written by Frances Belfrage for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

The fonds includes correspondence, flags, and various memorabilia.

The fonds documents an oral history project of the Irish of Montreal made by Patricia Burns on behalf of the St. Patrick's Society of Montreal between 1990 and 1992. The materials were used by Patricia Burns for her book The Shamrock and the Shield : an oral history of the Irish in Montreal.

The fonds is mainly composed of sound recordings and transcriptions of 54 interviews conducted by Patricia Burns and some by Kevin O'Donnell, with people of Irish origin living in Montreal, and many having grown up in Griffintown.

The fonds illustrates the development of articule Gallery from its beginnings to the present as an active part of the Montreal art scene. It provides information on the administration, finances, and programming of the gallery. The fonds gives a vivid picture of articule’s events and exhibitions throughout the years, including documentation concerning events organized in collaboration with partners, as there is Viva! The fonds provides information on the Irish community in Montreal and on the history, activities, and operations of the St. Patrick's Society. There are no original records before 1863; they were most likely destroyed in the 1872 fire in St. Patrick’s Hall. The fonds document the activities of the Irish Canadian Heritage Society, located in Montreal, from the foundation of the organization in 1965 until 1973. It reflects the needs and interests of Montreal citizens of Irish descent in the culture of their country of origin. It also contains information on other organizations related to Irish communities in North America, especially the Irish American Heritage Society, but also Action for Irish Distress and others.

The fonds consists of copies of the society’s constitution, meeting minutes, financial statements, annual reports, correspondence, invitations, announcements of events, speeches, photographs, membership forms, newspaper clippings, leaflets, newsletters, booklets and a rubber stamp.

The fonds documents Mark Abley’s career as a writer from 1972 to 2015 and his contribution to the Canadian literary culture. It reflects his work as journalist, especially for La Gazette, and his freelance writing in the fields of journalism, poetry, children’s books, editing, and non-fiction books. Furthermore, the fonds illustrates Abley’s various ways to give on his passion, be it through lectures, workshops, conferences, school visits or even religious services.
Finally, the fonds gives an insight into English literature from Quebec, especially poetry, dating from the 1970s to 2014, mainly through a collection of chapbooks and monographies, which are all signed by the authors. This collection is completed by several literary magazines and issues of Ogmios, the Journal of the Foundation for Endangered Languages.
The subjects of endangered languages and English as part of Quebec’s language culture have been repeatedly treated by Abley and can be found throughout the fonds.
The fonds also includes interviews that Abley conducted within the scope of his research with several English-speaking writers, such as Jane Goodall, Henry Kissinger, and others.

The Black Theater Workshop fonds is composed of materials created and compiled by the Black Theater Workshop (BTW) and contains materials documenting the activities and operations of the BTW from its founding in 1972 to 2016. Textual records and other materials document the BTW's administration, finances, awards, plays, programming, promotional activities, communications, and facilities, among other things. Documents are also reflective of the BTW's contributions to Montreal’s Black communities and to theater in Canada.

Fonds consists of a manuscript of the musical score The Upper Neighbours Suitewhich. The Upper Neighbours Suitewhich was commissioned by the Association, composed and arranged by Jimmy Heath, and performed by Jimmy Heath and Richard Parris at its world premiere on October 6, 1990, at the Concordia University Concert Hall.

The Brian McKenna fonds provides an insight in Brian McKennas career and accomplishments as journalist, author, filmmaker, and producer, from McKenna’s time as a reporter for the Loyola News in the 1960s to his latest works of independent filmmaking. Further, the fond is a valuable source for detailed background information on many events and personages of the twentieth century.
The fonds documents Brian McKenna’s work on various films, covering documentaries that he produced for the CBC, and especially for The Fifth Estate, as well as independent productions, and even film proposals that finally never had been produced.
As such, the fonds’ content spans from the 13-minute documentary Thomas D’Arcy McGee, McKenna’s first film that he wrote and directed for the CBC in 1973, to his later works as an independent filmmaker, as Newfoundland at Armageddon, produced in 2016.
The fonds also gives an overview of McKenna’s writings. It covers his articles related to Expo ‘67 in Montreal, his time as parliamentary correspondent in Ottawa, as well as his book on Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau, published in 1981.

The Velma Weeks Barker collection contains materials related to the life and contributions of Velma Weeks Barker.

This collection contains photographs and textual records. The personal photographs that comprise the collection show Weeks Barker and her family and include photographs taken in Little Burgundy and inside community spaces, including Union United Church. Many of the images were also taken in family spaces. The textual records include newspaper clippings referring to activities occurring at the Negro Community Centre and the Negro Theater Guild. This collection also contains materials related to her husband, Darnley Cecil Barker, including information about his participation in the Canadian Army and his immigration from Barbados to Canada to serve.

The Velma Weeks Barker collection includes the following items:

The fonds consists mainly of recordings of radio broadcasts featuring musical performances by Gordie Fleming and his group. Most were broadcast on Radio-Canada and CBC on Lower Canada Swing, Saturday Set, Les joyeux troubadours, Jazz en liberté and Les fantaisistes.

The fonds documents Guy Thouin’s career from the 1950s to 2021, including his time at the Quatuor de jazz libre du Québec (1967-1971), L’Infornie (1969-1971), The Heart Ensemble (1989-present), and Nouveau Jazz Libre du Québec (2012). The fonds also provides information about Thouin’s personal life, including his early years in elementary school, his time playing with the cadets, moments with his family and friends, his studies in Quebec, and his life in India.

The Guy Thouin fonds contains photographs, music scores composed by Guy Thouin from 1968 to 2020, sound and audiovisual recordings of live performances, posters, records, clippings about Guy Thouin and his musical projects, flyers, curriculum vitae, biographical notes, postcards, press releases, certificate of birth and baptism, and certificate of optician license.

The collection provides information on Thomas D'Arcy McGee's history and his relation with his family.

It consists mainly of documents copied from a variety of archival sources by Timothy Slattery for The Assassination of D'Arcy McGee, published in 1968.

The collection includes about 50 original letters exchanged between Thomas D'Arcy McGee and members of his family. The collection includes several photographs, including a portrait of McGee by William Notman. The collection is also composed of newspaper clippings and objects.

The fonds provides information on the annual Catholic Drama Festival organized by the Guild between 1940 and 1953.
