The Ralph Whims Collection contains documentation concerning Black History in Montreal; the Negro Community Centre; Union United Church, the Coloured Women’s Club; The Red Feather and the Welfare Federation; Railway Porters; the Elks; the documentary film Show Girls; and Jazz in Montreal. The Lawrence Hayward collection contains documentation concerning Lawrence Hayward’s research on Canadian sculptors working between 1840 and 1910. The collection contains material on a diverse array of artists, including Charles Adamson, Walter S. Allward, Emile Brunet, John Lisney Banks, Allan Archibald Cameron, Frederick Alexander Turner Dunbar, Ulric Stonewall Jackson Dunbar, Merle Foster, George William Hill, Frances Norma Loring, Hamilton T. C. P. MacCarthy, Vernon March, Charles Duncan Mckechnie, Robert Tait McKenzie, Eleanor Milne, Lauréat Vallière, Marshall Wood, Percy Wood, and Florence Wyle, among others.

The collection consists of research materials, correspondence, reports, index cards, slides, photographs, and drawings documenting Lawrence Hayward’s research into Canadian sculptors. Research files contain materials compiled by Hayward, including clippings, biographical information, articles, correspondence, and catalogues, among other items.

The Paul Monty collection contains documents related to the history and decisions of the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) dating from its inception on April 1, 1968 until 2019. Documents are filed by topic and issue to facilitate research on the history of Canadian broadcasting policy and regulation.

The collection contains analog and digital materials concerning broadcasting; broadcasting distribution undertakings; radio; television and telecommunications; and discretionary services. Documents include annual reports and other reports; official publications; acts, regulations, and decisions; policy statements and policies; bibliographies; lists; newspaper articles; and speeches, among other materials.

General Idea

Collection composed of letters and postcards written by the founder of Jargon Press, Jonathan Williams, to Ida Hodes. The letters contain information about poetry and publications, about subscriptions, poetry and poetry circles in the United States, a discussion of career prospects, and publicity for recent publications by Jargon Press.

Mainly consists of archival materials documenting the actions and activities of the British colonial and the post-colonial governments in Kenya between the late 1880s through the early 1960s. 139 microfilm reels contain copies of thousands of government records, including annual and quarterly reports, intelligence reports, correspondence, secretariat circulars, and record books, amongst others. These once confidential records serve to document the economic, social, religious, and political upheavals in Kenya in the twentieth century leading to its independence from the United Kingdom in 1963.

The Collection is divided into 6 series, which were assigned to the documents when they were first microfilmed by Syracuse University:

Collections is composed of photographic reproductions of 12 prints and drawings of the City of Montreal. The original prints and drawings are dated between 1761 and 1871.

Corridart collection
P119 · Collection · 1976-1981

The collection consists of materials assembled by the plaintiffs' lawyers and deposited with the Quebec Superior Court in connection with the Corridart case. The collection documents the conception and execution of Corridart, as well as its abrupt dismantling and the legal proceedings that followed. There are materials related to the careers of the artists who participated in the court case, and information about related legal precedents.

The collection includes an inventory by Melvin Charney of the sites along Sherbrooke Street, explaining the conception of Corridart as a rue-musée qu'on visite à pied. There is also a comprehensive set of photographs of Corridart, documenting the common elements (the continuous assemblage), as well as the works exhibited along Sherbrooke Street, the panels of text, and the sites of activities. These photographs trace the entire Corridart route from east to west. There are photographs documenting the dismantling. Others show impounded works and several illustrate damage to works. The collection includes project proposals, planning documents, contracts between artists and COJO, correspondence, articles from legal journals, reports of meetings, blueprints, and sketches. There are also artists' curricula vitae, photographs, brochures, and other documents related to the artists' careers that were assembled to establish their status as professional artists.

The collection provides visual information on World War II. The pictures were taken in Europe, Japan, China, the Philippines, and the Arctic. The collection also includes National Film Board photojournalism on uranium mining for nuclear power in Canada, and other topics.

The collection consists of pictures, many of them produced under the auspices of the War Records Office of International News Agencies. The Collection contains news service photographs as well as photographs from the Canadian Armed Forces. Also included are original identifying captions that accompanied their transmission by news media wire services. Most of the photographers remain unidentified. They made their photographs while on assignment for international news agencies or the War Records Office for distribution to the news media.

Hodder.

The L’Entraide Missionnaire collection primarily consists of textual materials collected by L’Entraide Missionnaire during the course of their activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda. Materials do not document the administration and functions of L’Entraide Mission, but reflect their presence and activities in Africa. The documents in this collection were given to the organization during the course of their work in the field and consist of fist-hand information from the ground in the countries where L’Entraide Missionaire was working from 1993 to 2013. Much of the documentation concerns mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The collection mostly contains textual records, including reports and summaries; correspondence; ministerial declarations; statutes, agreements, and conventions; financial statements; contracts and other legal documents; and texts documenting debates, among other material.

The African Government Documents Collection is comprised of government documents dating from 1888 until 1988. The documents are predominantly from the period between 1950 and 1975. The documents primarily concern the following areas: Republic of Botswana, East Africa, Republic of The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nyasaland, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

The Velma Weeks Barker collection contains materials related to the life and contributions of Velma Weeks Barker.

This collection contains photographs and textual records. The personal photographs that comprise the collection show Weeks Barker and her family and include photographs taken in Little Burgundy and inside community spaces, including Union United Church. Many of the images were also taken in family spaces. The textual records include newspaper clippings referring to activities occurring at the Negro Community Centre and the Negro Theater Guild. This collection also contains materials related to her husband, Darnley Cecil Barker, including information about his participation in the Canadian Army and his immigration from Barbados to Canada to serve.
