In 1896 the Jesuits established Loyola College as the English-language branch of the classical college Collège Ste-Marie, founded in 1848. In 1974, Loyola College merged with Sir George Williams University to create Concordia University. The photographs in the collection document life at Loyola from 1908 onward. Subjects include classes, the Jesuit community, buildings (including aerial shots of the campus), sports teams, and special events. The other items in the collection relate to liturgical activities at the Loyola College chapel and include missals, lectionaries, printed prayers, patens, vestments, an altar stone, and other items.

The fonds documents the activities of the Office of the Vice-Rector at Concordia for the period of 1974 to 1984 and some file document the activities of the Office of the Vice-Principal, Administration and Finance at Sir George Williams University. The latter files include some documents relating to the SGWU Computer Centre incident of 1969. The fonds also includes some files of André-Jean Laprade, Assistant Vice-Rector Relations and Audit.Those files mainly relate to "Groupe de recherche et d’élaboration d’un système d’informatique de gestion universitaire (GRESIGU)," 1968-1975 (A. J. Laprade being the responsible for the « SIGU-Recherche » group). There are also some Stirling Dorrance’s files who was first at Loyola College and then at Concordia, Assistant to the Rector, Development (these files were probably mixed up in storage space at some points - by error - with the files from the Vice-Rector, Administration and Finance).

The fonds manily consists of reports, correspondence, and some photographs.

The fonds provides information on Frank Chalk's career as a professor and an administrator at Sir George Williams and Concordia University, as well as a writer, researcher and expert on the questions of human rights and history of genocide.

The ADMINISTRATION sub-series includes records related to the role Chalk played in the Sir George Williams University and Concordia University, having been a member or in attendance of various committees: the Building Programme Co-ordinating Committee (BPCC), the Planning Committee of the Board of Governors or the Senate Library Committee, the Intra-University Committee, the Sir George Williams Association of University Teachers (SGWAUT) Council or the Sir George Williams Joint Committee on University Affairs (JCUA). The sub-series is also comprised of records related to the Perry Anderson case that lead to the Computer Centre protest of 1969 and its subsequent outcomes.

The TEACHING sub-series includes course outlines, teaching material, teaching evaluations, bibliographies, promotional material and correspondence related to the courses Chalk taught in the department of History and the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) (most notably The History and Sociology of Genocide course), his involvement with graduate students Edward Kissi and Bertha Kimambo and with the Summer Sessions in Sociology held at Sir George Williams University in the 1960's.

The CONFERENCES, SEMINARS, TALKS sub-series is comprised of presentations, promotional material, correspondence linked to the many conferences and colloquiums Chalk took part of or attended in Mexico, the United States and Canada, often in collaboration with fellow and frequent collaborator Kurt Jonassohn. The subseries also includes records related to a round table Chalk helped organized with African archivists at Sir George Williams University in 1974 and the Sixth Annual History in the Making Conference held at Concordia University in 2000 (Chalk gave the opening address).

The CORRESPONDENCE sub-series consists of letters and postcards from peers, most notably David Koff, Helen Fein, Michael Dobkowski, Norman Cohn, Jack Nusan Porter, Barbara Harff and William Taylor.

The WRITINGS sub-series includes press clippings, promotional material, reviews and texts written by Frank Chalk and Jonassohn such as 'A History of Genocide' or 'Genocide: an Historical Overview' published in the 1990's.

The MONTREAL INSTITUTE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AND GENOCIDE STUDIES sub-series is comprised of records testifying of Chalk's involvement in the institute he co-founded with Jonassohn: an annual report, records related to the Academic Advisory board of the institute, budgets, the management of the David J. Azrieli Holocaust Collection or logistics behind the organization of workshops and seminars by guest lecturers such as Stefanie Beck, Rhoda E. Howard or Gérard Chaliand among others and the Occasional Paper series.

The RESEARCH AND REFERENCE DOCUMENTATION sub-series consists of copies of articles, press clippings and notes related to antisemitism, South Africa and Canada, Ethiopian Jews as well as the management of the African Collection of Sir George Williams University (including correspondence with the Kenyan National Archives).

The DISTINCTION sub-series includes some correspondence related to the Rector's Circle Chalk was welcomed in, in 1995.

The PRIVATE LIFE series includes two diaries ('date books') written by an unknown person in 1925 and 1927, as well as correspondence related to an issue Chalk had with Chrysler Canada Ltd. that reached the Canadian House of Commons as well as the US Senate in 1966.

The subseries also contains records related to his involvement in Concordia University's HIV/AIDS Lecture Series from 1993 to 2013 with correspondence, logistics files, media coverage and promotional material.

The COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT subseries testifies of Bayne’s active involvement in other organizations outside of Concordia University. The PERSONAL LIFE series is comprised of records related to Bayne’s EDUCATION: course notes, diplomas and some correspondence related to his studies at the Sir George Williams High School, the University of British Columbia and most notably McGill University where he completed his graduate studies. The series also includes records related to Bayne’s immigration to Canada as well as photographs of family and friends, including those of Norma Smith's costumes worn at different carnivals in Montreal as well as slides of different travels in the United States and Canada, including those of a visit to Expo 67 ‘Man and His World’ in Montreal.

The fonds highlights the personal and professional lives of Vincent and Olga Diniacopoulos as antiquarians, collectors, art dealers and travelers. It is comprised of personal letters from, and copies of letters to, family members, friends, and business associates. There are identification documents, passports, and other travel documents, school records and other materials from Olga and Denis’ childhoods’. The fonds includes personal/family photographs, negatives and slides ranging from the 19th century to the 1990s. There are photographs of antiques and works of art; however, many of the subjects are not identified. There are also many publications (books, newspapers) that were collected by the fonds creators throughout the years. Among these written documents is a travel diary and as well as some letters from the 19th century which cannot be clearly linked to the creators of the fonds, but are nevertheless an interesting source of information.

The fonds mainly documents the CIT and Concordia AV Department audio-visual productions and photographs made for the University community. There are also some textual administrative records, mostly composed of the documents of Gary Boyd, AV Assistant Director, Research & Development.

The fonds includes sound recordings (e.g. audio reels, compact cassettes) and moving images (e.g. film reels, video reels, videocassettes). For instance, the fonds contains most of the original audio reels of the SGWU Poetry series recorded for the English department between 1965 and 1974 (see the Concordia SpokenWeb project which uses this material). The fonds also includes photographs made by the AV Photographic section for the University community. This material is mainly composed of faculty and staff portraits and pictures of University events, dated between 1979 and 1994.
