Fonds is composed of records relating to Russell Thornton, friend of Irving Layton. Material consists of thirty-one letters between Russell Thornton and Irving Layton, in which Layton offers advice and encouragement to the young poet. The letters also chronicle Layton’s personal and professional life. The fonds also contains signed typescript copies of Layton’s poems. The Russell Thornton Fonds is part of the Irving Layton Collection.

The Nat Raider fonds documents the Montreal music scene from the 1950s until the 1970s, mostly by means of sheet music used in performances of the Nat Raider orchestra.

The fonds consists of materials used by the Nat Raider Orchestra, including sheet music and hand-written arrangements. Among these documents you will find “Le Caf’ Conc' Opening Theme” composed by Nat Raiser. Also included are song lyrics, performance notes, correspondence, and documents related to the performance of comedy.

The fonds consists of memorabilia of Claude W. Thompson's and his brother's participation in World War I. There is also a review of William Wood's book The Fight for Canada, and a copy of the book.

The fonds consists of 12 photographs showcasing Montreal orchestras in which Hanson performed, including the Westernaires, the Blue Serenaders, the Alouette Band, and Paul Beauregard’s Orchestra. The performers depicted in these photographs are mostly identified. The fonds also includes photocopies of press clippings.

The fonds is related to Alan Hustak’s work as a journalist and author.
It consists mostly of research material on the Quebec physician and Montreal mayor of Irish origin Sir William Hales Hingston, (1829-1907). The material was collected by Alan Hustak in preparation of his book Sir William Hingston : Montreal Mayor, Surgeon and Banker, published in 2004.
The research material and articles on pilot Albert Mah (1920-2005) and Canadian broadcaster Jimmy Tapp (1918-2004) give an insight in Hustak’s work as a journalist. The fonds also includes photographs of singer Norma Hutton.

The fonds includes without limitations correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, brochures, manuscripts, book chapters and personal documents. Most documents are reproductions, made in the 1990s or later.
