La sous-série porte surtout sur des organismes québécois œuvrant dans les métiers d'art et des artistes québécois.

La sous-série est constituée de coupures de presse et d'autres documents textuels, de photographies, d'affiches et de documents audio-visuels. Elle comprend plusieurs documents publiés par la Société St-Jean-Baptiste.

West Island

The sub-series documents the development, management, and activities of the West Island Branch YMCA. It includes correspondence, reports, rosters, minutes, and other records.

Railroad Work

The file documents programs of the Montreal YMCA that were addressed to workers on railroads. It includes correspondence and other materials.

Expositions

La sous-série témoigne des différentes expositions auxquelles Lucien Desmarais a participé en tant qu’exposant au cours de sa carrière de 1942 à 1986. Elle permet de connaître ses différentes formes de participation aux expositions.

La sous-série contient le livre d’or de l’une de ses premières participations à une exposition, des coupures de presse, des lettres, des cartons d’invitation. Les dossiers sont classés en ordre chronologique.

Enseignement

La sous-série témoigne des activités de Lucien Desmarais en tant qu’enseignant au Collège Édouard-Montpetit, au Cégep Saint-Laurent, au Collège Algonquin et au Collège de Valleyfield. On y retrouve également des notes relatives à des cours donnés à des cercles de fermières, au Centre d’art de Pointe-Claire, à la Guilde canadienne des métiers d’art et auprès d’autres organismes.

La sous-série comprend des notes de cours, des plans de cours, de la correspondance, des contrats d’engagement.

History and constitution

This sub-series documents the historical development of the Black Theatre Workshop (BTW), from its beginnings in 1965 as the Trinidad & Tobago Association (TTA) Drama group, through its incorporation as the BTW in 1972, to today. It also contains material pertaining to the Negro Theatre Guild, formed by members of the Montreal Black community in the early 1940s.

The sub-series contains, among other documents, letters patent, programs, newspaper clippings, a constitution, historical outlines, photographs, notes, play scripts, letterheads, logos, poster, studies, a newsletter, membership lists, briefs, mission statements, and correspondence.

The sub-series consists of documents prepared for internal circulation, including organization charts, rosters and directories of staff, board and committee members, and internal telephone directories.

Galeries d’art

La sous-série témoigne des relations que Lucien Desmarais entretenait avec les milieux artistiques montréalais et québécois en général, en plus de donner une image de l’évolution des expositions à Montréal des années 1940 à 1988. Elle témoigne également des collaborations plus particulières que Lucien Demarais avait avec certaines galeries d’art, dont la galerie Le Tournesol, la Galerie Denyse Delrue, la Galerie du Siècle, la Galerie Libre et avec des ateliers.

Elle témoigne également des nombreuses invitations à des vernissages et expositions auxquels était convié Lucien Desmarais. Elle comprend de la correspondance et de nombreux cartons d’invitation, ainsi que des calendriers d’activités de galeries d’art. On y retrouve également des dossiers d’artistes et un spicilège comprenant des coupures de presse relatives à des expositions de la Galerie le Tournesol.
