Collection consists of materials accumulated by Margaret Griffin and Clara Gutsche, mostly relating to the founding and first exhibition of Powerhouse Gallery, now La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse. Items also document The Flaming Apron craft store, and various exhibitions held at La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse. This collection contains items created by Margaret Griffin, Leslie Busch, Billie-Joe Mericle, and Stansje Plantenga, founding members of Powerhouse Gallery. Materials in this collection are primarily dated 1972-1974, with select documents dated 2001 and 2004. Some documents were annotated by Margaret Griffin and Clara Gutsche in 2014.

Materials documenting the establishment and history of Powerhouse Gallery include: correspondence, newspaper clippings, proposals, descriptions, timelines, publications, posters, slides, negatives, a leaflet, a drawing, a paintings, and clothing. These materials primarily concern the Gallery’s first exhibition, Windows: From the Inside Out: Painting, Photography, Ceramic and Sculpture (1973), presented at 1210 Greene Avenue in Westmount, Quebec. Items also document various exhibitions held at Powerhouse Gallery and La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse, including: Codpieces: Phallic Paraphernalia (1974), The Past to the Present (2001), and Powerhouse: Where are we now? (2001). Materials concerning the activities of The Flaming Apron, a craft store in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, include: clothing, ceramics, and a newsletter. This collection also contains La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse publications, including Women’s Bookworks (1979) and Les Centrelles (2004), as well as items related to art and artist run centers in Canada.

The collection contains newspaper clippings relating to Irving Layton. These clippings review his work, comment on events held to honour Layton and his work, include interviews with the poet, document reviews by fans, and include articles about Irving Layton and Canadian poets in general. Clippings were taken from several large Canadian newspapers from Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver and include newspapers and magazines such as the Gazette, the Toronto Star, the Georgian, Poetry Canadian Review, Saturday Night, The Canadian Forum, Sunday Star and the Telegram.

Quinn collection

The Quinn collection was gathered by Herbert Furlong Quinn between the 1930s and 1970s to support his research of political sciences.
The collection mainly presents a dozen Canadian political parties as well as several foreign parties using brochures and political newspapers covering the period from the 1930s to the early 1980s. The Canadian political parties represented are the Parti libéral du Québec, the Liberal Party of Canada, the New Democratic Party, the Progressive Labor Union, the Commonwealth Co-operative Federation, the Progressive Conservative Party, the Confederation of Catholic Workers in Canada, the National Union, the Social Credit Party of Canada, the Bloc Populaire, the Canadian Student Assembly, among others. The foreign parties covered by the collection are mainly the German Christlich Demokratische Union (CDU / CSU), but also the Socialist Workers' Party of America and the League for Industrial Democracy as well as the Republicans and Democrats during the American presidential campaign of 1964. In addition, the collection includes several years of the "Bulletin" (English version), published by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as brochures of the Portuguese government of the 1930s.
The collection also includes complementary material: First, there are articles and publications written by Herbert F. Quinn on multiple political subjects, including a manuscript of the book "L'Union nationale: le nationalisme québécois de Duplessis à Lévesque", published in 1979. Second, there is a selection of Canadian newspapers and clippings, covering the 1949 Canadian federal election campaign on the one hand, and the fascist movement around the world during the 1930s on the other.
Finally, the collection includes court transcripts relating to the occupation of the Sir George Williams University Computer Center in 1969, known as the Sir George Williams Affair.

The Quinn collection contains pamphlets, brochures, statements, newsletters, addresses, policy statements, transcripts, manifests, newspapers and newspaper clippings. An index of brochures is available.

In 1896 the Jesuits established Loyola College as the English-language branch of the classical college Collège Ste-Marie, founded in 1848. In 1974, Loyola College merged with Sir George Williams University to create Concordia University. The photographs in the collection document life at Loyola from 1908 onward. Subjects include classes, the Jesuit community, buildings (including aerial shots of the campus), sports teams, and special events. The other items in the collection relate to liturgical activities at the Loyola College chapel and include missals, lectionaries, printed prayers, patens, vestments, an altar stone, and other items.
