Biographical history

François Brault, born in Montreal December 7, 1941, directed some 30 documentary films on liturgical art in Quebec for the National Film Board of Canada.

Custodial history

François Brault sold his fonds to Alain Guérin and Danielle Lalonde in 1993. In 1995, the fonds was donated to Concordia University. That year it was certified as a Canadian Cultural Property. The fonds was transferred from Concordia University's Records Management and Archives Department to the Library's Special Collections February 24, 2016. Access copies of the slides, previously held by Concordia's Visual Collections Repository, formerly known as the Digital Image and Slide Collection (DISC) or the Slide Library, were transferred to the Library's Special Collections on May 23, 2018.

Scope and content

The fonds consists primarily of slides on liturgical art in Quebec. It includes slides on the production of films and books on art.
